Before we guide, we grow.
Meaningful tarbiyyah begins with self-reflection. We help parents, teachers, mentors and young people grow in character, confidence and purpose — grounded in Islamic principles and real-life relationships.
Why My Tarbiyyah began
MyTarbiyyah.com was developed as a satellite office in the UK to Educational Resource Development Centre (ERDC) — but the idea came from a deeper concern.
We choose schools. We choose teachers. We arrange tuition and activities. We spend enormous energy guiding and correcting our children — and rarely stop to ask the one question that shapes everything else.
Have I worked on my own Tarbiyyah?
My Tarbiyyah exists to bring that question back to the centre — for every parent, teacher and mentor.
We cannot guide others without first working on ourselves.
We often just imitate what came before us, rather than pausing to reflect. But raising confident, characterful children takes more than education alone — parents and teachers also need to understand:
- Their own purpose
- Their own behaviour
- Their emotional needs
- Their relationships
- Their responsibilities
- Their spiritual development
- Their role as examples
Tarbiyyah is not a lecture. It is a relationship.
Tarbiyyah can only truly happen when we become the trusted and loved person in someone’s life.
When children, students or mentees feel safe, protected, respected and loved, they become more open to guidance. That is why we believe relationships come before correction, and character comes before instruction.
خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِهِ، وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِي
“The best of you is the one who is best to his family, and I am the best of you to my family.”
— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Part of a wider vision for meaningful education.
MyTarbiyyah.com was developed as a satellite office in the UK to Educational Resource Development Centre (ERDC), an organisation established in 2000 with a vision of making education meaningful and helping every individual realise their potential.
ERDC has worked with parents, teachers, learners, students, schools and educational leaders.
ERDC envisages social excellence through making teachers, learners, parents and schools realise their meaning and achieve their full potential.
To contribute to making teaching and learning meaningful through developing effective resources — both human and material.
A vision that began in 2000.
ERDC began by conducting training programmes for parents, teachers, students and school leaders. Over time, thousands of people became connected with the organisation, helping turn the vision of social excellence into reality.
